Getting to Know YOU Sunday!

Getting to know YOU

1.If you had 5000.00 to spend on plastic surgery what would you have done?

I would definitely have some liposuction done!  I'd have it done on my stomach (below my belly button=trouble spot), and my inner thighs.

2. Do you watch Soap operas and if so what is your favorite and why?

I watched Days of Our Lives for about 10 years!  I started watching way back when Marlena was a possessed by a demon.

3. Favorite clothing brand?

I don't really have one.  I mostly buy clothes from Target, Old Navy, AE, Forever 21, and Macy's.

4. An afternoon shopping spree at your favorite store or maid service for a year?

Afternoon shopping spree!  I don't mind cleaning...besides the bathrooms!

5. would you ever vajazzle?

Definitely NOT.

6. Favorite Disney Princess?

Ariel!!!  If I were a cartoon we would be BFF's!

7. Last movie that made you bawl your eyes out?

I honestly can't even remember.  I usually cry at any movie though.

8. Have you ever broken any bones and if so what?

I broke my arm when I was 3 years old.  I was jumping off the very top of my my grandmas couch, landed on my arm, and broke it.  I'm pretty sure my mom still has my cast....ewww.

Internet Update-Part Due

Yesterday a technician came out to our house to install the satellite on top of our roof so we could finally have Internet.  Well after about one hour of him being on top of the roof he came downstairs to inform me that he couldn't get a signal.  At that point I almost started crying.  The technician was baffled because one of our neighbors who lives about 30 feet away from us has this satellite Internet, and he gets a signal just fine.

So, now it looks like we will have to wait until an ADSL phone number becomes available...supposedly in October!  This means researching trips, keeping in touch with family/friends, and paying bills all become a great challenge.  It also means I will not be able to go back to school this fall since I can't take online classes.

We have also just discovered that we do not get cell phone reception in a good portion of our house.  We only get reception outside, a part of our kitchen, and our bedroom.  We have finally started to tackle getting our downstairs/basement put together, and have found out we get zero reception down there, and that is where our living room now is.  No cell phone reception is a big issue especially when my husband is on call for work about once every month, and gets a few phone calls from his shop every week after he's gone home for the night.  How they expect us to not have a landline phone/Internet is beyond me.  Especially now that it could interfere with his job.

I never thought not having Internet could make me so angry!

Internet Update

So, we still don't have Internet set up at our house....ugh.

I took a few people's advice who live here and read my blog, and went over to a different Internet place not on base to see if they could get it hooked up for us sooner.  Well...they told me they've been told that the town I live in won't have any ADSL lines available until OCTOBER!

We decided waiting until October for Internet was ridiculous, so we ended up signing up for satellite Internet.  It's going to cost an arm and a leg to get it, but at this point we don't care anymore.  So, a technician is coming out on Wednesday to see if we can get a signal for the satellite.  We should be able to since our neighbors a few houses down from us have it.

Fingers crossed that we'll have Internet by Wednesday!!!

Delicious Salad!

I was browsing my favorite cooking blog the other day, For the Love of Cooking, and came across this strawberry spinach salad with poppy seed vinaigrette that I knew I had to make!  I went to the commissary, bought all the ingredients, and have been eating it for the last 3 days!

It's super simple to make, and it tastes so good!  I added grilled chicken to my salad to add some protein.  I think it would also taste good with some fresh mint added too!

A Few Things I Miss About Living In The United States

We've been living in Italy for almost 4 months, and while I absolutely LOVE living here there are a few things I already miss from the US.  Obviously I miss my family, and friends but there are a few materialistic things I miss.

I miss...

I could seriously spend hours in there just wandering around!

I would do anything for some sushi right about now!  I'm actually trying to convince the husband that moving to Japan after our time is up in Italy is a good idea, just so I don't have to live without sushi again!

A spa pedicure, with French polish would be delightful!  So far I've had a pedicure in a big ceramic bowl...it wasn't great.

Those are just a few things I miss about "home".

Chub Rub

This happened to me while the husband and I were in Verona for my birthday a few weeks back.

I decided I wanted to be fashionable that day since it was my birthday, so I wore a little cotton black dress, and some cute strappy sandals.  Well that turned to be a very bad idea!

We walked for almost 5 hours in the hot sun, and by the day was over the inside of my thighs hurt so bad from rubbing against each other!  With every step I took it felt like my thighs were on FIRE!  When we got home I hopped into the shower, and rubbed as much lotion on my inner thighs as I could hoping it would help ease the pain.

With the weather getting warmer here I've been wanting to wear dresses, but every time I go to grab a dress out of my closet to wear for the day my mind goes back to that awful chub rub day in Verona.  Today I finally decided to head to the BX, and see what kind of spandex shorts they had for sale, so I can wear them under my dresses.  Thankfully, I scored a nice pair of Under Armour spandex shorts for pretty cheap!  I can't wait to start wearing dresses again!

It does make me feel slightly better to know some thin girls who also have experienced chub rub as well. ;) I'm sitting here typing this while eating a salad, and I will head to yoga and bellyrobics tonight in hopes to get rib of some of this excess chub on my inner thighs.

Getting to know YOU

If you want to join in on the fun go here!

1. If a person has a booger in their nose. and you can see it, do you tell them?
If I know the person, then yes.  I don't feel comfortable going up to strangers and letting them know they have a boogie hanging out of there nose.

2. What are you passionate about?
Helping people in any way I can.

3. How long have you been blogging?
Ummm about four months or so.  I've started other blogs in the past, but have never kept up with them.

4. What is your favorite "summer" drink?
Beer!  There's nothing like a nice cold beer on a hot summer day!

Pretty much anything from the 80's and early 90's.  Journey is my favorite!  I also despise country!

7. My Summer vacation plans are...?
Traveling around Europe!

8. My favorite must have, can't live without, beauty product is?
An eyelash curler!  If my eyelashes aren't curled I feel icky!  Even on the days I don't wear makeup I still have to curl my eyelashes.

Internet Issues

Who would have thought that after almost 4 months of living here we still wouldn't have the Internet hooked up at our house?!

I certainly DID NOT!

They only have DSL around where we live, and DSL runs off of a phone line.  Well, I guess the town I live in is out of phone numbers, and obviously has been for awhile.  I'm not even sure how you run out of phone lines, but it seems to have happened.  We ended up getting this usb Internet stick (nice explanation huh?), to use in the meantime until we get Internet hooked up at our home.  We only get a certain amount of hours per month, so we try not to use it very much.

I never realized how much I NEED the Internet to do things especially while living in Italy.  It's kind of hard to keep in touch with family, pay bills, research trips, download tv shows we miss from the US, plus MANY more things.

Anyway,  the Internet "people" told me they would have open phone lines for my town by the end of May.  Well, it's June 1st, and I still haven't been contacted.  Then I had someone tell me the other day that they were told maybe in July.  Seriously?!  If it takes too much longer we will be purchasing satellite Internet which will cost an arm and a leg, but at least we'll finally have Internet!

Please keep your fingers crossed that we get Internet hooked up soon!
