Stuff & Things

It's been quite awhile since I've blogged, so I thought I'd start trying again with a link up about randomness! :)

I'm so over summer. It's that time of the year where I absolutely loathe living in the Phoenix area. It's been in the 90's (which I consider to be hot) to the 100's since MARCH. It won't be out of the 90's until the beginning of November (hopefully). At least it's cooling off some at night/early morning with low's in the 70's.

I have puppy fever...bad. Hubs says it's not the right time to get another puppy. :(

I'm starting (a different) school again in less than a month. I won't get into details about why the other school didn't work, but lets just say it wasn't a good fit. I'm so looking forward to going back to this new school, though! I've been so bored lately. There's only so much TV I can watch, and books to read. It's going to take me longer to finish (which means we have to live here longer ugh), but I think I'll be much happier with this school.

Shameless is my new favorite TV show.

I'm slightly regretting not hiring someone to paint our kitchen cabinets. I have no doors on my cabinets which is driving me nuts (and won't until it cools off enough to use a paint sprayer outdoors on them). At least it confirms what I new...I could never have open shelving or glass doors in the kitchen.

I'm so looking forward to Christmas this year! I'm FINALLY going back home to spend Christmas with my family for the first time in 6 years. It should be quite fun with my niece since she'll be almost 20 months old at that time. :)

Winslow, Arizona

Way back in September of last year, we took a day trip from Flagstaff to the Petrified National Forest. On the way there, we decided to make a pit stop in Winslow, Arizona. Turns out there's not much to see in Winslow other than the Standin' on the Corner Park. If you didn't know, it commemorates the song "Take it Easy" sung by the Eagles. My husband is a pretty big Eagles fan, so I think he enjoyed it. :)

Mdina, Malta

Shortly before we PCSed (military term for move) back to the USA, we decided to take a last minute cruise with some friends. We found a great deal on Costa and were able to visit some new cities and countries. One of the stops was in Malta. I don't think I had ever even heard of Malta before we moved to Malta! It's a small country (122 miles) located just south of Sicily.

Once arriving into the port (Valletta), we decided to to hop aboard a hop on-hop off bus that would take us to the city of Mdina. Mdina was beautiful! It happened to be a very blustery day, but I was happy there was no rain. We just walked around the city, and I took advantage of all of the gorgeous narrow alleyways by photographing all of them! We may have a few of these photos hanging up in our home. :)

Life Lately

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, and I've had a lot going on lately!

The biggest recent event is that I was accepted into a dental hygiene program a couple of months ago! This is something I've been working towards ever since I graduated high school. It's just taken me a really really long time to get there! ;) I did take a 4 year hiatus when we moved overseas, a decision I knew would put school on hold, but I do not regret it one bit! The chance to live abroad (mostly paid for by Uncle Sam) was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I knew school would always be there when we got back. Anyway, it's a 20 month program, and I'm so ready to start. I'm nervous as well, but that's because I will have no life for the next 20 months. I'm hoping my crazy puppy will understand. I tell him he's going to sacrifice some time with me so we can afford for him to eat in the future. ;) I've been enjoying my free time lately since very soon I won't have any! I've been napping, binge watching tv shows, and taking Stig on many walks. :)

My books for the 1st semester. There are 3 more that are on backorder. :(

Since I have some free time before school starts, I booked a last minute flight to Northern CA (home) at the end of last month. I hadn't seen my niece since she was 2 weeks old, and she turned 6 months old while I was there! She is so much fun! My sister ended up in the hospital the day after I got there (gallbladder issues), so I was glad I was there to help with Haven. We were able to do some fun things like going to pumpkin patches, and Apple Hill. I may post about my trip there, but I'm pretty bad with this whole blogging thing.

I enjoyed being in N. CA while the trees were showing off their beautiful fall foliage!
This was our second summer in Arizona, and it was a HOT one! It could have been normal, but I don't know because our first summer here apparently was abnormally cool. I pretty much started hating it here in September since it had been in the 100's since the end of April. When it was still in the 100's in October I thought I was going to go insane, and I would never be cool again. It has now cooled off quite a bit, I believe below normal, and I'm loving it! I'm still not convinced the 4 months of nice weather is worth 8 months of hell. It starts getting hot here in March (90's) and is hot until the end of October. I am so so so glad we didn't end up in either of the Dakota's, but we definitely won't be staying here longer than we have to.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

The following day after arriving in Nice, we decided to take a short train ride to Monte Carlo. We had intentions of stopping at a few coastal towns along the way, but the weather was not on our side that day, so we just decided to head to Monte Carlo.

Once we got off the train we walked around the harbor, then went to check out the Monte Carlo Casino.

While we were checking out the ridiculously expensive cars (the hubs was in heaven), the sky opened and it started to downpour. We quickly ran into the closest restaurant for lunch, but not before looking at the prices. We should have known it was going to be expensive since the restaurant was right next to the Monte Carlo Casino. Thankfully dad treated, and I picked one of the more reasonably priced items on the menu, a salad. :)
