Hello, hello! It's been awhile since I've blogged. No particular reason really. Just haven't felt like it! But, I'm back! :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had a pretty busy one ourselves! Our base held their semi-annual bazaar this past weekend. I can't remember if I blogged about it before, but it's basically a one-stop shop for vendors from all over Europe to come sell their products on base. An hour or so after they opened on Friday the husband and I went by to stock up on some Belgian beer. It's our favorite, and it's hard to come by here! We bought our favorites before they sold out, and walked around really quick since he had to get back to work.
I've been eyeing this piece of artwork for the past couple of bazaars, and decided to buy it. It has a creepy, but beautiful vibe going on (no?). It's made out of paper mache, and has Italian song lyrics (you can barely make them out in the picture) written on it. The woman whose husband made it told me the song writers name, but I forget who it is. It can be hung, but I'm going to try to find a plate holder to display it.
Saturday, while the husband was at the movies with some friends (He saw Iron Man 3. I loathe sci-fi or any sort of comic book movies, so I happily told him to go.), I went back to the bazaar with my friend Tessa. I ended up buying a bracelet, delicious Belgian chocolate, and
Speculoos (OMG why haven't I tried this before now?!).
I went home and told the husband about a vintage crate I saw, and kind of liked. He asked if I wanted to go back, and look at it again, and possibly buy. I told him I didn't know (I'm terribly indecisive), and we watched some tv instead. About an hour before the bazaar closed to the day, we decided to go back.
We bought the crate, and I love it! It's a vintage banana crate from Belgium. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, or where I'll put it at the moment. I'm kind of running out of space in our house.
We bought MORE Belgian beer, my favorite pesto, and put in a custom order for this...
A wine barrel made into a wine rack! I'm not sure what we were thinking since it's freaking expensive, but oh well! We said it'll be our "leaving Italy" gift to ourselves to make us feel better. ;) Ours will be a Spanish wine barrel (the one pictured is French) which means it'll be darker, have 3 wine racks inside, and a shelf above the wine racks. We'll pick it up when they come back for the fall bazaar in October. The owners of the shop didn't even make us put down a down payment for the wine barrel since we've spent so much at their shop (we've bought a Scottish whiskey barrel, and Belgian beer barrel in years past). I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing.
We came home after that and grilled some steak, asparagus, and zucchini. And enjoyed some Belgian beer to make us kind of forget how much money we had just spent.

| FYI - I did not eat this entire steak! |
On Sunday we went to a local cheese factory, and took a tour! But, more on that at a different time. :)
I've been slacking BIG TME with making meal plans, so it's back to posting them on here to help me make them!
Meal Plan:
And I know I've been saying I'll post about our trip to Paris that we took six months ago. Truth is, I didn't really care for Paris (GASP), so I think that's why I have no desire to blog about it. Maybe sometime this week I'll have the 1st post written! No promises, though. :)
